Moroccan Mint Iced Tea
Everyone I know is going somewhere exotic and paradisiac this summer – except me.
We all have places we dream of visiting one day. One of those places for me is Morocco. I’d love to explore the public markets, buy a handmade tagine and enjoy some of the local cuisine. Ahhh. Doesn’t that sound exciting?
Unfortunately a trip to Morocco is not in the plans this summer unless I either win the lottery or sell one of my kidneys in the black market. Yeah, I don’t think either of those is happening any time soon. But, who says I can’t bring Morocco to me?
This tea has very interesting flavours that go very well together. You get some freshness from the mint, a hint of bitterness from the green tea and delicious sweetness from the honey. It is to die for. This is what I call taking tea to the next level.
I have the cold version here, but feel free to skip the ice if it is not as hot where you live as it is here on the West Coast.
- 700 ml of hot water
- 3 teabags of green tea
- 4 tablespoons of honey
- 8 sprigs of fresh mint
- 8 ice cubes
- Combine everything except the ice cubes in tea pot.
- Let it steep for 5-7 minutes.
- Place 4 ice cubes in each of the two cups. Pour tea.
- Feel free to garnish with fresh mint. Enjoy!
Sounds super refreshing! A great stand-in for going on an actual trip.

Thank you, Joanne! I wouldn’t mind going on the actually trip, though
By the way, Joanne, I nominated you for a Liebster Award if you’re interested in participating. It’d be fun to read a few random facts about you. Sorry if that sounds a little stalker-ish. Haha!
I love Moroccan mint tea! Is it really this simple to make?? Never gave a thought to making it at home – and I love making Middle Eastern food so this is perfect! Pinning so I don’t lose it!

Yup. It’s that simple, Nagi. Shocking, isn’t it? I had always loved Moroccan mint tea but always thought it would require some exotic tea leaves or something to make. I then got a Moroccan roommate when I was in college and she taught me how to make it. So glad I met her
What a fun flavor! I love trying different iced teas in the summer, so I’ll definitely have to test this one out! So refreshing for this time of year, too.

Aren’t iced teas the best, Gayle? This tea and hibiscus iced tea are probably my favourites. Let me know how it turns out
Yes! Morocco is at the top of my list, too…except that I just had a baby so I’m pretty sure I’m not going anywhere like that for 18 years ;P This mint iced tea looks like a great alternative, and so refreshing and delicious in this hot summer weather we’ve been having!

How refreshing! I always grow mint in the garden and often make tea with it. I didn’t think of also combining green tea. That might be the plan for my next cuppa! Also several health benefits to this…particularly good for digestion
